Magic was never supposed to be real.
Jenna doesn’t discover she’s a drifter until college. What begins as a terrifying accident becomes a life on the run when she learns others like her have been quietly disappearing.
CLOZE (Commanding League of Zero Enchantment) calls it containment. Treatment. Protection.
No one who goes with them returns.
Eric is a decorated CLOZE picker, trained to locate drifters and bring them in safely. He believes he’s saving lives. He believes in the system. He believes he is on the right side of history.
Then he’s assigned to Jenna.
As Jenna uncovers whispers of a virus targeting drifters and Eric begins to see fractures in the organization he serves, both are forced to confront a truth neither was prepared for.
Magic isn’t outlawed.
It’s being erased.
