"The Water Blade" by Phil Ælse

Rychel, last survivor of a destroyed squad, is given a second chance, but has to lead his new comrades to the front line.

Tull, a legion auxiliary, is desperate to earn enough cash to get out of the back end of beyond.

Together they must form a shaky alliance to stem an army of undines, and prevent a powerful shaman from unleashing a dangerous power.

Abalone - A continent cut off from the rest of the known world. Fragments of the nations of the races of humanity found themselves cut off from their homelands by an impenetrable wall of mist that rose from the surrounding ocean, almost overnight. Forced to coexist with the minor and major races of the land, some nations fought to retain their old identity and maintain their links to a severed past. Others force a path to a new future, often through the lands and lives of their neighbours.

For those who like their high-fantasy with a twist of realism, quirky characters and brutal action (but low gore), why not delve in to the world of Abalone, where human expansion meets resourceful elemental indigenes and a hidden history laden with danger. Suitable for YA readers upwards, anyone interested in fantasy RPGs and games.

"The Water Blade" by Phil Ælse will be free in ebook format on June 19th to 23rd 2026 as part of Arcane Tomes 'Summer Solstice Sale'.

"War of the Four: The Twin Schism" by D. J. Dempsey

Sun. Sea. Sky. Stone.
Four tales, fated for war.

Seven hundred forty-one turns of the solar season ago, a fragment of a celestial star descended upon the Plane. Or so the story was told.

From its crater emerged a storm so devastating that only the bravest of knights, Rondor the Royal, dared venture to its source. What he discovered changed the Plane forever.

Upon contact with the fallen star, the storm ceased—its celestial essence coursed through his body with a pulse, granting him the authority to command all elements of the Plane. Rondor forged the foreign substance into what became known as the Staff of Azil and used its power to bring peace to his fractured homeland.

Generations of inheritance later, however, Rondor’s progeny strayed from his virtue. Rexam’s reign with the staff unleashed the most perilous period the Plane had ever known, subjugating all four regions under his mighty conquest. Only when Rexam’s younger brother, Regnam, rose to lead the rebellion did the devastation finally come to an end.

Wielding this reclaimed power, Regnam chose instead to reforge the Staff of Azil and divide its essence among the Plane’s four great leaders. Thus, the amulons renowned today—the Sunspear, Seatrident, Skybow, and Stonehammer—were created, each capable of conducting one of the four principal elements.

But as these tales of the Plane will tell, peace divided doesn’t always remain that way.

"War of the Four" is a military fantasy / coming of age story by D. J. Dempsey.

"The Balance Between Wings" by Guinevere Atlas

In a world where magic is a chronic condition, the heaviest things we carry are our own wings.

For Lira, having wings isn't a divine gift—it's a diagnosis. On the mist-shrouded docks of Catalina Island, the separation between the mundane and the magical is razor-thin. But for those like Lira, born with the heavy, aching burden of flight, life is a constant performance of masking the pain. She has spent her life dreading "The Rite," the bureaucratic ritual that governs her kind, all while trying to exist in a world that romanticizes her suffering.
The only tether keeping her grounded is Caliel. He is the shadow on the dock, the quiet constant in her chaotic storm. He has watched her struggle in silence for years, waiting for the moment she would let him in. As the weight of her wings threatens to crush her, Lira must decide if she can trust him with the ugly, unvarnished truth of her existence—or if showing her brokenness will shatter the only safe place she has left.
"The Balance Between Wings" by Guinevere Atlas is a haunting Gothic Romantasy short story by Guinevere Atlas. Weaving together magical realism and the raw realities of living with invisible pain, it is a hymn for the neurodivergent, the chronic warriors, and anyone who has ever had to hide their true shape to survive.
About the Author

Guinevere Atlas is a Gen Z indie author and the founder of Celestial Heroine Books. Writing at the intersection of Gothic Romantasy and dark speculative fiction, she weaves stories for the neurodivergent, the chronic warriors, and anyone who has ever felt too heavy for their own wings.

Summer Solstice Sale - Fantasy Ebooks

We are planning our biggest sale yet, and we're looking for more fantasy authors to join in!

The Summer Solstice Sale will be from June 19th to 23rd, and we are looking for indie fantasy authors to list their ebooks for sale during the event. We recommend setting a sale price of 50% to 70% off.

Why a sale instead of just giving away the ebooks for free?

Because readers who get a free ebook often don't actually read the ebook in question. They might get 50 free ebooks during an event like "Stuff Your Kindle", but how many of those books will they actually read? The answer? Most likely zero.

Why?

It comes down to psychology. If a product is free, then it probably isn't very good. But if you have to pay money for it, then it is more valuable and people are more likely to read a book that they spent money on.

This is why we recommend that fantasy authors taking part in this event set a sale price that is 50% to 70% off. It is a large enough sale price to attract attention, the author is still making a reasonable amount off each sale, and it isn't so cheap that readers will think that the book must be bad.

Want to join the Summer Solstice Sale?

Email peasantmagazine@gmail.com with the following information:

  • Author name.
  • The name of your book(s) that will be on sale (or free) during June 19th to 23rd.
  • The sale price for each book taking part in the sale.
  • A promotional blurb about your book.
  • A short biography about the author.

We will add your book(s) to ArcaneTomes.Org and include your book in our promos for the Summer Solstice Sale.

Note - We are only looking for indie authors. Traditionally published authors need not apply.

How can you help?

Tell your author friends about the Summer Solstice Sale. Tell your readers. Tell people on social media. Mention the sale on your blog, author website, etc.

What about Future Events?

If this event is successful we are hoping to create more events for the Autumn and Spring Equinoxes and the Winter Solstice.

Update

So far we have 14 books that will be included in the Summer Solstice Sale, but we are expecting many more as we get the word out.
