ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Charles Moffat likes writing about dogs, wolves, and a variety of other animals. Many of his fantasy books feature a variety of animals on the cover. His fantasy world of Korovia features a wide variety of Ice Age megafauna, legendary monsters, and quite a few creatures of his own creation. He also enjoys archery, swordfighting, canoeing, and sailing. He lives in Ontario with his wife and two sons.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sterling Carmichael was born and raised in Edmonton, Canada. After traveling he eventually found his way to Edinburgh, where he lived and worked for a year before heading home again. After returning to Canada he entered the rat race and while he has enjoyed a fruitful career, he knew that it was something that was just a means to an end. It was writing that had always captivated him and the urge to become an author was too strong to ignore.

Today in his free time Sterling enjoys sampling craft beers, reading works of fantasy fiction, playing various musical instruments poorly, attempting to retain physical fitness, and generally consuming way too much pop culture. He is a huge Star Trek geek and could spend hours arguing with friends about the various series’ merits, episodes, and characters.

The Adventures of Wrathgar (TAOW)

The Adventures of Wrathgar (TAOW) is a massive series of novels (and 1 novella) by heroic fantasy author Charles Moffat. The series follows the adventures and escapades of barbarian archer Wrathgar and his friends/lovers/allies.

The series includes:

Plus the novella "The Sunken Castle", which takes place between books 1 and 2.

As you may have guessed, Moffat's stated goal is to write a series of 26 novels (A to Z effectively), which will chronicle the story of Wrathgar from his teen years into old age. The word count of the finished 26 book series will easily exceed that of other large series like The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and dwarf smaller series like ASOIAF by George R. R. Martin.

The series features realistic portrayals of friendships and romantic relationships, and similar realism when it comes to battle, swordplay, archery, and world building. Charles Moffat, an archery instructor who prides himself on perfectionism, researches his topics heavily before writing them for the sake of realism, and his experience teaching archery for 15+ years is indicative of his knowledge on the subject matter.

Like GRRM however, Moffat has a nasty habit of killing characters. So be careful which characters you get attached to, because they could die in a later book.
