Do you enjoy reading fantasy books written by indie authors?
Welcome to Arcane Tomes, a fantasy bookstore that only features indie authors. We help fantasy readers discover the Best Books of Indie Fantasy through a combination of submissions by readers, writers and carefully curated additions.
This way if you are looking for a specific subgenre of fantasy, written by an indie author who is perhaps in a wheelchair, we can direct you to books like: "By Winged Chair" by Kendra Merritt, and similar books in our Bookshelf.
We are constantly on the lookout for more indie fantasy authors worthy of attention, from a wide spectrum of subgenres and backgrounds, and not just Romantasy (although that is our biggest category).
We also pay special attention to authors with more refined niches, and challenging personal histories.
For example, one of the books on our bookshelf, "The Frost Giant's Tomb" by Charles Moffat, features a character who is deaf and mute, and the author is a signer with leukemia and PTSD. In writing the character Ty in the novel he employed his knowledge of ASL. In a similar novel from the same series, "The Exorcist's Dagger", he dealt with themes related to his PTSD.
In short, we attempt to connect readers with authors who deserve more recognition, both for the quality of their writing, but also because they face particular challenges that makes them in more need of some extra help. And due to their backgrounds, their basically experts on the subjects that they are writing about.
We also offer many different ways to browse titles:

- You can browse our Bookshelf of Book Covers, with links to where you can purchase the books.
- Or you can simply browse books based upon when we posted about them, for people who simply want to browse and aren't too worried about specifics.
This way you can find the books you are looking for, easily, that matches your interests based upon aesthetics, subgenre, or if you just like randomness.
About Us
ArcaneTomes.org is run by fantasy authors/readers. We enjoy helping to connect readers with indie authors, and helping indie authors to find their fan base.
Being an indie author is extremely difficult, as it is very difficult to get your books into stores and in front of readers, you are frequently not taken seriously by older readers (younger readers are more accepting of indie books), and there really is not a lot of solid options for marketing your books. Eg. Social Media is too unreliable, too fleeting, and readers on social media rarely buy books regardless of how many "Likes" you get. Book blogs however are more efficient for marketing because the people reading the blogs are more likely to buy the books, and review them.
And book reviews are a huge necessity for indie authors.

Peasant Magazine is similarly on the lookout for fantasy and historical fiction indie authors who have short stories that they want to sell. The magazine pays a small stipend to contributors (both authors and illustrators) and publishes new issues usually once per year.
